10 Antique Mid 19th Century Val St Lambert Wine Glasses Bubble in Stem
Antique Val St Lambert Wine glasses. This lovely old wine glasses are in very good condition. We have not been able to identify the pattern but believe these to be Val St Lambert because of the stem design, similar to Lalaing and Queen Anne. The glasses are beautifully made with crisp deep cutting to the bowls and stems. The stems have included bubbles. The glass has that lovely grey tinge, the undersides have polished pontils and there are marks around the rim in places on some glasses like pincer marks in Georgian glass. There are definite rings within the glass on the bowls from where it was blown. There are ash and bubble inclusions as well. The feet to all these glasses are wider than the bowls. When held to the light there are spiral marks within the glass to the feet as shown. The cutting is crisp and well defined with sharp arrases. These are lovely glasses and a rarity. They were probably made as a Madeira Glass and would suit any would be suitable for any sweet fortified wine today. There is no damage to this set, no chips or cracks. The glasses are around 130mm tall and measures 60mm across the rim. The glasses measure around 65mm across the feet. These measurements do vary a mm or so as each glass is individually made. For Imperial measurement users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.
