White cased glass pendant light possibly by Peill Putzler or Danish made. Thin inner layer of white glass with thicker frosted glass on exterior. Satin finish on exterior; glossy interior. Rather large at 15 tall x 9 1/2 diameter. Top & bottom edges are cut & unfinished. No makers mark or label. New 4 feet cord & porcelain socket. Brass hardware with 3 screw-in rods holds shade; ends of rods covered with clear plastic tubing to not damage glass. When lighted, rods show a slight shadow against glass & visible from exterior see images. White painted ceiling canopy. Approximate Size: Shade height: 15 Shade widest diameter: 9 1/2 Shade top diameter: 2 1/4 outside edge Shade bottom diameter: 5 3/16 outside edge Hangs from ceiling to shade bottom: 58 Condition: Shade has a small shallow, surface chip on top outside edge see image. A few tiny flea bites around top & bottom edges; some light surface scratches. Glass has a few bubbles, striations and imperfections typical of blown glass. Each lamp is made of one piece of hand blown glass and takes one standard bulb up to 60 watts. These lamps are extremely fashionable at the moment and original pieces like this are hard to source. They are wired with their original 2 core wiring with the original in-line switch, I can rewire this with modern wiring and a new inline switch if desired although this cannot be undone. AugWhite Mid Century Modern Cased Opaque Glass Mushroom Lamp Vintage 1950/60s EUC
This lovely mushroom lamp is in excellent vintage condition. Judging by the wiring, the switches and connectors this lamp is late 1950’s or 1960’s. The bulb connector has been replaced by a more reliable type and accepts all standard bulbs. I would not go over 60W as the heat may discolor the inside glass. The lamp is 14.75″ high x 12.75″ in diameter at its widest point with a 6 base. The opening in the top is 4 in diameter. The “shade” is 8 high with the 12.75 diameter. I have shown pictures of a standard white incandescent bulb and a green compact florescent bulb to give you an idea on the versatility of the lamp and how it would look with a different colored bulb to match different decors or themes.
