Wonderful 1950’s vintage Federal Glass collection of Fran Taylor designed mid-century frosted collins glasses for Gay Fad industries. This set of seven, features smooth frosted glass finish with the caricatures of The Lawyer, The Beggar Man, The Thief, Chief, Doctor, Poor Man and Merchant. Beautiful raised colorful graphics on frosted glass depicting each character. Lovely full size tumbler is a fab size to hold your favorite bevy’s and easy to grip with raised graphics. These beauties are a must have for everyday or for your next festive cocktail party. Perfect for display in your retro modern kitchen, on the vintage bar cart or a great vintage set of whimsy glassware to get a collection started! Grab them up before they are gone! Gay Fad Studios opened in Lancaster, OH in 1945. Gay Fad’s founder was Fran Taylor, who worked at home for seven years hand decorating home goods and glassware items before opening the studio. The design is named Rich Man Poor Man and it was first introduced in the 1951 Gay Fad catalog. Each glass of the original 8 designs features the caricature and name of one of the 8 professions mentioned in the old nursery rhyme and certainly shows Fran Taylor’s love of whimsy. While quite popular during the mid-century, sadly Gay Fad Studios closed in 1962. Glasses are in excellent vintage condition! NO chips, dings or pings to glass! The usual light pre-loved surface wear to graphics and frosted finish here and there from years of helping Madge keep the the glam in her Mai Tai’s booming, but nothing that distracts from this wonderful collection of mid century Federal Glass history.
