This stunningly RARE mid-century cocktail set made by Georges Briard features an incredible hot air balloon design with doves and starbursts and the brutally honest saying “THE HIGHER YOU GO, THE HARDER YOU FALL” inscribed across all 3 pieces. What a statement straight from the middle of the 20th century. This gorgeous design is in gold leaf, teal and black and features a gold sponge paint effect over the glass. These mid-century Georges Briard gold sets were generally 22k leaf but I cannot say this for sure. Georges Briard was an American designer in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. He is most well known for his signature dishware and glassware – everything from cups and plates to gold plated serving dishes. His signature collection was stocked at noted department stores, such as Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller.
